Who is Affirm?

Affirm offers easy financing – without a catch. There are no gimmicks like deferred interest or hidden fees, so the total you see at checkout is always what you'll actually pay. Cross River Bank, a New Jersey chartered bank, is the lender for all loans initiated through Affirm. Affirm underwrites and services these loans in association with Cross River Bank.

What is required to have an Affirm account?

Affirm offers clear, simple financing for your online purchases in just a few clicks:
Be 18 years or older.
Have a valid U.S. mailing address (excluding overseas territories).
Have a valid postpaid US mobile number that can receive SMS texts. The phone number must be registered in your name, and Affirm cannot accept VOIP numbers at this time.
Provide your name, email, valid mobile number, birthday and last 4 digits of SSN to help Affirm protect and verify your identity.

Does Affirm perform a credit check?

Affirm does a credit check to verify your identity and provide you with a financing offer when you sign up. This is a 'soft' credit check and will not impact your credit score. If you choose to complete a purchase and finance it with Affirm, they will do a single 'hard' credit check when your first order is processed by us. This may have a minor impact on your credit score. Future purchases with Affirm will not require them to check your credit again.

Do I have a credit limit with Affirm?

Affirm has no fixed credit limit. They underwrite each loan individually taking into account the merchant, items purchased and other information available at the time of purchase.

Does Affirm charge any fees or interest?

Affirm charges a small finance charge when you split your purchase into multiple payments. They will always clearly state the cost of the finance charge in terms of real dollars ($) and an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) so that you can know exactly what you're paying. Affirm never charges any compounding interest and there are no hidden fees.

Why was I prompted to pay a down payment with a debit card?

Despite their efforts, Affirm is not always able to approve the full amount. When this happens, they will provide a debit card down payment option so that you may still complete your purchase right away.

Why was I prompted for a checking account?

Affirm sometimes requires additional information to consider a credit application. Such information may include an active checking account, which helps them verify your identity and your ability to repay the requested loan. If Affirm prompts you for this information but you are unable to provide it, Affirm will be unable to approve your credit application.

Why was my purchase with Affirm not approved?
Sometimes Affirm cannot verify your identity or approve your charges with the information provided. Please make sure to provide your true and accurate information to Affirm when signing up to help them verify and protect your identity. If you think there was a mistake please contact them.

Where can I review my Affirm account and purchases?

You can review all of the purchases on your Affirm account and pay your Affirm bills online at www.affirm.com/pay.

How do I cancel my purchase?

Please contact us if you would like to cancel your order. Once the order is cancelled, the charge will be removed from your Affirm account.

How do I pay my bills?

You can pay your Affirm bills by debit card and bank transfer online at www.affirm.com/pay. To pay by check, please write your Affirm account number (which is your mobile phone number) on the check. Make it payable to "Affirm, Inc." and mail it to: Affirm, Inc. PO Box 2854 San Francisco, CA 94126

Will you send me billing reminders?

Affirm will send you email and SMS text messages to remind you of upcoming payments.

What happens if I don't pay my bill?

We hope that all of our users honor their purchases with Affirm. Please understand that when you make a purchase through Affirm, you are entering into a legal obligation to repay the balance for each purchase. This is no different from other agreements to repay people or businesses for goods and services. Affirm reserves the right to seek collection from delinquent accounts. For any questions about this, or if you would like help paying your balance, please contact Affirm. You may review their Terms and Conditions here.

What if I need more time to pay my bill?

Unfortunately, Affirm is unable to grant extensions at this time. Rest assured that they will not impose any late fees or additional interest. But a late payment may prevent Affirm from approving a future application for financing.

What happens if I pay off my loan early?

If you pay off your entire loan before the final due date, you will pay interest only for the period that you borrowed the money. Affirm rebates any unearned portion of a finance charge for the remaining loan period. The total pay-off amount displayed in your Affirm account online reflects this rebate. There are no hidden penalties for paying off your Affirm loan early.

What happens to my monthly payments if I receive a partial refund?

Affirm does not recalculate your monthly payments based off the new loan amount. The partial refund will be credited to the last monthly bill associated with your loan. If the refund amount is greater than the last monthly bill amount, the remaining amount of your refund will be applied to the preceding month.

What is Affirm's privacy policy?

Affirm will never provide your information to anyone other than the merchant fulfilling your order. To that merchant, they only provide information needed to reach you and fulfill your order like your name, email and shipping address. You can read more about their privacy policy here.
