I'm converting from a Spektrum DX8 to Futaba on my entire fleet of helicopters. The primary reason for this conversion is reliability. I have experienced loss of contact while using the DX8 that resulted in a crash, although it's only happened twice in three years. The DX8 also has gimbals that require maintenance more often than I'd like and opening the DX8 case isn't something I like to do since the rubber grips are in place with adhesive. The 14SG is easier use than I thought it would be, is very logical, and provides the user with many options. This is my third transmitter, so I'm getting used to setting these things up. There is a learning curve, but any new transmitter would have a learning curve. I've actually found the Futaba 14SG to be kinda fun to navigate and it has so many more features than the DX8. One example is the dual timers. I set one for flight and the second is ongoing for heli maintenance. I've also found the 14SG to be very customizable to my particular style of use because the switches can be progammed to do whatever I like. As transmitters continue to evolve I can see staying with the Futaba 14SG for many years.
